EHS ComplianceThe Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) on April 27, 2026, notified regarding the Environmental safeguards to be followed while operating Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs).

The following has been stated:

• The Board has issued a circular prescribing environmental safeguards for the operation of Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs), emphasizing strict compliance to prevent pollution and ensure sustainable operations. 

• The guidelines mandate measures such as the adoption of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) wherever applicable, exclusive conveyance of effluents through closed pipeline systems, and installation of continuous online monitoring systems connected to regulatory authorities. CETPs are required to ensure proper treatment and disposal of sludge and prohibit unauthorized discharge or reuse of treated effluent for inappropriate purposes. 

• The circular also stresses accountability of CETP operators and member industries, regular monitoring, and adherence to prescribed environmental standards to safeguard public health and the environment.
