The National Stock Exchange (NSE) in May 05, 2026, notified regarding the Bank Guarantees accepted as collateral.
The following has been stated:
• The circular partially modifies the earlier provisions on bank guarantees for margin deposits. For electronic bank guarantees, a minimum validity of 7 days with an additional 7-day claim period is required; if no separate claim period is specified, the total minimum validity must be 14 days. Where the issuing bank does not mention a claim period beyond expiry, 7 days will be deducted from the maturity, which will be treated as the claim period.
• For physical bank guarantees, the minimum validity must be 3 months. Similarly, if no explicit claim period is provided, 7 days will be reduced from the maturity and treated as the claim period.
• There is no change in the existing collateral formats for submitting bank guarantees.
• The circular shall apply to Futures & Options, Debt Segment, Currency Derivatives, NSE Clearing - Capital Market, Commodity Derivatives, and Securities Lending & Borrowing Scheme.
