The Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Government of Goa on May 04, 2026, issued the Draft Goa Artificial Intelligence Policy 2026.
The following has been stated:
• The policy aims to build an inclusive, innovation-driven AI ecosystem and position the state as a global hub for high-tech and AI-led development. The policy is structured around key pillars such as AI skilling and capacity building, promotion of startups and industry, investment facilitation, governance reforms, and development of digital and research infrastructure.
• It emphasizes the use of AI across sectors like governance, public services, education, healthcare, and tourism to improve efficiency and citizen outcomes.
• The draft also highlights responsible and ethical AI adoption, including safeguards and accountability, and proposes forward-looking ideas such as regulating harmful technology use (e.g., possible restrictions on social media for minors).
• Additionally, it encourages stakeholder participation, with the policy open for public consultation for 15 days, inviting inputs from industry, academia, and citizens before finalization.
• Overall, the policy aims to drive economic growth, enhance digital governance, and prepare the workforce for an AI-driven future.
