The Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries, Maharashtra, on April 21, 2026, issued Draft Maharashtra Cotton Seeds (Regulation of Supply, Distribution, Sale and Fixation of Sale Price)(Amendment) Rules, 2026, to further amend the Maharashtra Cotton Seeds (Regulation of Supply, Distribution, Sale and Fixation of Sale Price) Rules, 2010.
The following has been stated:-
•A draft amendment to the Maharashtra Cotton Seeds (Regulation of Supply, Distribution, Sale and Fixation of Sale Price) Rules, 2010. These new regulations are officially titled the "Maharashtra Cotton Seeds (Amendment) Rules, 2026".
•The primary purpose of the amendment is to insert a new rule, designated as Rule 10A, concerning personnel qualifications.
•Under this rule, a person must be a graduate in Agriculture from a government-recognized university to be eligible for appointment as a Seed Inspector. The draft was published to inform the public and any individuals likely to be affected by these changes.
•The Government of Maharashtra has stated it will take the draft into formal consideration on or after May 26, 2026.
•Any objections or suggestions regarding these rules must be submitted to the Director of Agriculture (Inputs and Quality Control) in Pune.
•All feedback received before the specified date will be reviewed and considered by the government. The notification was issued by order and in the name of the Governor of Maharashtra.
