Commercial ComplianceThe Municipal Council Nagrota Bagwan, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh on February 26, 2026, issued the Municipal Council Nagrota Bagwan Erection, Exhibition, Affixation of Advertisement and Hoarding Bye-laws 2025.

This shall take effect from May 16, 2026.

The following has been stated:

• The bye-laws make prior written permission from the Executive Officer mandatory for displaying any advertisement or hoarding on public or private property, including vehicles. Applicants must submit details of location and size, and permission will be granted only after verification and payment of the prescribed charges. The Municipality has fixed hoarding fees at ₹300 per square foot per month plus applicable GST and taxes.

• The bye-laws prohibit installation of hoardings in heritage areas, valley sides, rooftops, sharp curves, near water sources, trees, drains, hydrants, and other sensitive locations affecting public safety, traffic visibility, scenic beauty, or environment. Permissions are time-bound, and unauthorized hoardings may be removed by the Municipality at the owner’s risk and cost. 

• Strict penalties have been prescribed, including ₹1,500 per square foot per day for illegal hoardings, along with possible disconnection of civic amenities and withdrawal of approvals in case of repeated violations. 

• The rules also allow temporary permissions for social or public-interest advertisements in exceptional circumstances for up to seven days.
