The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), on May 2026, issued a public notice allocating 8606 MTRV of raw cane sugar for export to the United States under the Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) scheme for the US fiscal year 2026 covering the period from October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026.
The notification states that export of sugar under HS Code 17010000 to the USA and European Union under the TRQ scheme shall continue to remain “Free” subject to the conditions prescribed under Notification No. 3/2015-20 dated April 20, 2015 and related restrictions. The Certificate of Origin, wherever required for preferential export to the USA, shall be issued by the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, Mumbai based on recommendations of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) regarding eligible entities and export quantities.
The Public Notice further provides that APEDA shall act as the implementing agency for operation of the TRQ quota for exports to the USA. Exporters are also required to comply with the reporting requirements prescribed under Notification No. 3/2015-2020 dated April 20, 2015 read with Notification No. 20 dated September 7, 2015.
