The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), on June 1, 2026, issued a public notice notifying six new Standard Input Output Norms (SIONs) under the Chemical and Allied Product Group (Product Code ‘A’). The newly introduced SION entries are numbered A-3702 to A-3707 and cover export products such as Artemether PH.I/USP, Artesunate PH.I, Dihydro Artemisinin, and Doxycycline Hyclate Delayed Release Tablets of various strengths.
The notified norms specify the permissible quantities of imported inputs required for the manufacture of the corresponding export products. For instance, the new SIONs prescribe input-output norms for products based on Artemisinin and Doxycycline Hyclate USP, thereby providing standardized input consumption parameters for exporters seeking Advance Authorisations.
The notification aims to streamline the Advance Authorisation process by enabling Regional Authorities (RAs) to issue authorisations directly based on the newly notified norms, without referring individual cases to the Norms Committee. This is expected to expedite approvals, reduce processing time, and ensure greater consistency and uniformity in decision-making.
