Secretarial ComplianceThe National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) on June 04, 2026, notified regarding the SEBI Circular on Single Window Automatic and Generalised Access for Trusted Foreign Investors (SWAGAT-FI) framework for FPIs and FVCIs.

The notice refers to a SEBI circular dated January 16, 2026, introducing the SWAGAT-FI framework (Single Window Automatic and Generalised Access for Trusted Foreign Investors) for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) and Foreign Venture Capital Investors (FVCIs). This framework aims to simplify and streamline access for trusted foreign investors in the Indian securities market.

In continuation, SEBI has shared a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) via email dated May 25, 2026, which provides detailed guidelines for implementing the provisions of the circular. The SOP is attached as an annexure for reference and compliance.

Designated Depository Participants (DDPs) and custodians are required to take note of these instructions and ensure proper implementation of the framework. They must also communicate the relevant details and procedural changes to their FPI clients.

Overall, the circular and SOP are intended to enhance ease of doing business for foreign investors while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational clarity.
