EHS ComplianceThe Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) on June 09, 2026, issued a notice inviting proposals from industrial units for incentives due to better environmental performance.

The following has been stated:

• It has invited eligible industrial units in Meghalaya to submit proposals for incentives under its revised industrial categorization framework (Red, Orange, Green, White, and Blue categories). The incentive scheme aims to encourage industries that have adopted measures leading to improved environmental performance and a reduction in their Pollution Index (PI) score.

• To qualify, industrial units shall have been operational for at least one year, demonstrate verifiable environmental improvements supported by audit reports from recognized institutions, and maintain records relating to production, energy use, water consumption, wastewater treatment, and other operational parameters. Units shall possess all required environmental clearances, consents, and waste-management authorizations and comply with applicable environmental norms and guidelines.

• Applicants shall also have valid groundwater permissions where applicable, no pending penalties or legal proceedings for environmental violations, and no record of accidents or incidents causing environmental pollution during the verification period. Proposals may be submitted throughout the year, and the Board will publish the list of incentivized units on its website and submit an annual report to the Central Pollution Control Board by 30 June each year.
