•The Directorate of Factories, Telangana, has issued Safety Alert 11/2026 to prevent accidents and occupational illnesses in plastic manufacturing industries, including injection moulding, blow moulding, extrusion, grinding, and material-handling operations.
•The alert highlights major hazards such as crushing injuries, burns, electrocution, dust explosions, and falling loads, and mandates safeguards like machine guarding, lockout-tagout (LOTO), emergency stops, and regular equipment inspections.
•Factories must ensure fire and explosion safety through proper storage of combustible materials, fire protection systems, emergency drills, and electrical inspections.
•Strict housekeeping measures, including immediate cleanup of spills and proper waste management, are required to reduce slip, trip, and fire risks.
•Employers must provide appropriate PPE, conduct regular safety training, and ensure only trained personnel operate machinery and lifting equipment.
•The advisory emphasizes emergency preparedness, safe work practices, and continuous supervision to promote a zero-harm workplace culture and compliance with statutory safety requirements.
