Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Odisha on May 26, 2026, issued a notification regarding Self-Certification and Inspection of Electrical Installations.

The following has been stated:-

•The Odisha Government has notified that electrical installations connected up to 33 kV shall be self-certified by owners, suppliers, or consumers through certified Chartered Electrical Safety Engineers (CESEs), with immediate effect. 

•However, installations covered under Section 54 of the Electricity Act, 2003, as well as those related to mines, oil fields, and railways, will continue to require inspection by the Electrical Inspector. 

•The Government has also permitted OPTCL to inspect, test, and self-certify its installations up to 765 kV before commencement or recommencement of supply. 

•Additionally, generating plants with a capacity above 500 KVA cannot be commissioned without prior written approval from the Electrical Inspector.
