The Department of Fisheries (DoF), under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DoF), on June 20, 2026, notified the enforcement of provisions of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026 pertaining to the Maritime Zones of India (Regulation of Fishing by Foreign Vessels) Act, 1981.
Through this notification, the Central Government appointed the date of publication of the notification as the effective date for bringing into force the amendments covered under Serial Number 45 and the corresponding entries in the Schedule to the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026.
Accordingly, the relevant amendments to the Maritime Zones of India (Regulation of Fishing by Foreign Vessels) Act, 1981, introduced through the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026, have come into effect from June 20, 2026.
