The Government of Mizoram on May 18, 2026, issued the Draft Industrial Relations (Mizoram) Rules, 2026.
The following has been stated:
• The draft rules provide a comprehensive framework for registration and recognition of trade unions, constitution of negotiating unions and negotiating councils, grievance redressal committees, works committees, standing orders, and settlement of industrial disputes.
• They also prescribe detailed procedures for conciliation, voluntary arbitration, adjudication by Industrial Tribunals, strikes and lock-outs, retrenchment, lay-offs, closure of establishments, and re-employment of retrenched workers.
• The rules establish the composition, appointment process, tenure, service conditions, and removal procedures for Judicial and Administrative Members of the Industrial Tribunal.
• They further promote digitization by allowing electronic filing of applications, notices, awards, and compliance documents.
• Public comments and objections can be submitted by August 07, 2026.
