The UT Administration of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu on May 22, 2026, issued the Public Advisory for Prevention and Control of Malaria & Dengue.
The following has been stated:
• The advisory directs all government offices, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, hotels, restaurants, housing societies, construction sites, industrial units, and the general public to undertake preventive measures against mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, and filaria.
• The advisory emphasizes the elimination of mosquito breeding sources by preventing water stagnation in coolers, flower pots, tyres, containers, tanks, drains, and construction areas; maintaining cleanliness; ensuring proper waste disposal; and regularly cleaning water storage facilities. Establishments have been advised to strengthen mosquito-control measures through the use of repellents, mosquito nets, window screens, larvicides, and proper maintenance of septic tanks and drainage systems.
• The advisory also calls for widespread awareness activities, prompt reporting and treatment of fever cases, and the observance of a weekly “Friday-Dry Day” to inspect and remove stagnant water. Specific responsibilities have been assigned to schools, hospitals, hotels, industries, residential societies, and government departments, including conducting regular inspections, appointing nodal officers, organizing awareness programmes, maintaining sanitation, and implementing anti-larval measures.
• The advisory seeks active community participation and cooperation with health authorities to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases during the monsoon season and safeguard public health.
