EHS ComplianceThe Government of Telangana, on June 22, 2026, issued a notification regarding the proposed EHS regulations for ETP/STP & Hazardous Wastes.

The following has been stated:-

•The stringent safety and health guidelines for Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) and Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) in Telangana. 

•It mandates comprehensive worker training alongside prominent hazard displays in local languages, while requiring secure peripheral fencing and locked gates to prevent unauthorized access. 

•Qualified personnel must conduct periodic equipment inspections and maintain detailed certification records, halting any defective machinery until repaired. 

•Safe, subterranean staircase access must be provided for routine maintenance, complemented by full-body harnesses, ladder-safety systems, and hoists for fall protection. 

•To prevent dangerous flooding, automated control systems are required to regulate liquid levels and flow rates throughout the facilities. Pipelines must adhere to Indian standard color-coding, and strict Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) protocols, along with mandatory work permits, are required for hazardous confined space entries. 

•Additionally, employers must supply robust personal protective equipment, maintain easily accessible emergency response kits (including eyewash stations and fire extinguishers), and implement mechanical ventilation to dilute dangerous, toxic, or explosive emissions below permissible limits.
