Industry Specific ComplianceThe Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, on June 16, 2026, issued the Arunachal Pradesh Legal Metrology (Enforcement) (Amendment) Rules, 2026, further amending the Arunachal Pradesh Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011.

They shall come into force on June 25, 2026.

The following has been amended, namely:

The amendment introduces a fully online licensing system through the State's Single Window Portal under the Arunachal Pradesh Ease of Doing Business Act, 2021, for manufacturers, repairers, and dealers of weights and measures. Licences will now be issued based on self-declaration and an undertaking, without any prior inspection, and will remain valid for five years and shall be renewed at least 30 days before expiry. The rules also mandate that licences be issued within 15 working days of submission of the complete application, failing which they will be deemed automatically granted.

• The amendment further prescribes detailed online application and renewal procedures, specifies the documents and licence fees applicable to manufacturers, repairers, and dealers, and inserts new Annexure A (application process and document checklist) and Annexure B (self-declaration undertaking).

• Existing sub-rules have been renumbered, and Rule 11(10) has been repealed to streamline the licensing framework.
