The University Grants Commission (UGC) on July 28, 2026, notified regarding the One-Year Postgraduate Programme under Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online mode in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020.
The following has been stated:
• The UGC has permitted Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) that are already recognized/entitled to offer a Two-Year Postgraduate Programme through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and/or Online mode to also offer a One-Year Postgraduate Programme in the same discipline. The programme must comply with NEP 2020, applicable UGC Regulations, regulatory body norms, and the UGC Curriculum and Credit Framework for Postgraduate Programmes, along with the prescribed credit requirements and approval from the HEI’s competent statutory bodies.
• Admission will be restricted to learners who have completed a Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree with Honours and meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. Programmes such as MBA, MCA, and PGDM shall comply with the eligibility requirements specified by their respective regulatory bodies.
• The curriculum, learning resources, assessment, credits and other academic requirements must comply with applicable UGC regulations and statutory norms.
