The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) on July 31, 2026, issued a general response of IRDAI to the feedback received on the Draft IRDAI (Third Party Administrators – Health Services) (Amendment) Regulations, 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•IRDAI has issued its response to stakeholder comments on the draft IRDAI (Third Party Administrators – Health Services) (Amendment) Regulations, 2026, accepting several suggestions to improve regulatory clarity.
•Key changes include expanding the legal basis of the regulations, introducing an objectives clause, retaining the term "Authority", and clarifying the renewal process for Certificates of Registration (CoR).
•The Authority retained provisions relating to CoR validity and the annual fee structure, stating that the amendments do not increase the overall fee burden and existing legal provisions are adequate.
•Additionally, the proposed framework for listing TPAs has been deferred for a comprehensive review covering all insurance intermediaries, while the cancellation provisions have been aligned with the Insurance Act, 1938.
