The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) on July 22, 2026, issued a Public Notice for Comments on Draft 2nd Edition Digital Health Certification Standards for HIS/EMR Systems.
The following has been stated:
• The draft proposes an updated certification framework for evaluating HIS/EMR software used by healthcare providers, with emphasis on patient safety, clinical quality, interoperability, data privacy, cybersecurity, governance, audit trails, clinical documentation, decision support, medication safety, consent management and compliance with national digital health initiatives such as the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
• The standards aim to ensure that digital health systems support secure, accurate and efficient healthcare delivery while strengthening interoperability, data exchange and regulatory compliance.
• The certification programme applies to HIS/EMR solution providers, with products required to demonstrate operational deployment in hospitals and compliance with prescribed digital health requirements before certification.
