The National Medical Commission (NMC) on July 31, 2026, issued the Guidelines on Assessment of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) for Admission to the MBBS Course, 2026.
The NMC has partially modified its Guidelines on Assessment of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) issued on July 27, 2026, by revising Appendix-D (Locomotor Disability Affidavit) through a corrigendum dated July 31, 2026. The revised affidavit format applies to candidates with lower extremity locomotor disabilities and requires them to declare their disability details, use of assistive devices, and functional abilities, including weight-bearing, standing, walking, sitting, and turning. Candidates must also affirm that they possess the essential competencies required to pursue the MBBS course and acknowledge that any false declaration may lead to cancellation of admission.
All other provisions of the original PwBD assessment guidelines remain unchanged.
