The Ministry of Communication (MoC) on August 06, 2026, has notified a revised technical standard for telecommunication equipment, exercising powers under Section 19 of the Telecommunications Act, 2023, read with Rule 5 of the Telecommunications (Framework to Notify Standards, Conformity Assessment and Certification) Rules, 2025.
The standard notified is TEC 67010:2026, covering "Generic Requirements for Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) Batteries" — commonly used as backup power in telecom infrastructure like towers and exchanges. It takes effect from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
