The Government of Kerala on August 04, 2026, issued the Kerala Panchayat Building (Amendment) Rules, 2026 to further amend the Kerala Panchayat Building Rules, 2019.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In rule 26, in sub-rule (4), after the note, the following shall be inserted as first proviso and second proviso, namely:-
“Provided further that for single family residential buildings in plots abutting unnotified road with width less than 6 meters, the front yard shall not be less than 2 meters”
“Provided also that any one yard other than front yard of a building referred in column (2) and (3) in Table 4 can be reduced upto 50 centimeters if there is no opening on that side”.
• In rule 33, the following proviso shall be inserted, namely:- “
Provided that in the case of air conditioned rooms it shall not be less than 2.4 metres”.
