Secretarial ComplianceThe Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), on August 11, 2026, issued a clarification regarding implementation of “@valid” UPI IDs for investor-facing bank accounts of Trading Members, pursuant to SEBI’s framework on Standardised, Validated and Exclusive UPI IDs for payment collection by SEBI-registered intermediaries. Trading Members must ensure that all investor-facing bank accounts (upstreaming accounts) through which funds are received from individual/non-institutional investors are linked with a “@valid” UPI ID and are verifiable through SEBI Check.

Trading Members are required to apply for a “@valid” UPI handle through the BSE portal and thereafter approach their respective banks for completing the documentation/process for obtaining the handle. Members registered with multiple stock exchanges need to submit the request through only one Exchange. The requirement also applies to any new investor-facing bank account opened after issuance of the notice.

Compliance with the requirement for existing investor-facing bank accounts must be completed within T+30 days, where T = August 7, 2026, making the compliance deadline September 6, 2026.
