The Government of Uttar Pradesh on July 17, 2026, issued the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Third Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, further to amend the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2019.
It shall come into force from July 25, 2026.
The following has been amended, namely:
• The Government has amended Schedule-2, by inserting Serial No. 54 to include Ajay Kumar Garg University, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, sponsored by the Indian Institute of Management and Engineering Society, Ghaziabad.
• The amendment also empowers the State Government to issue orders, published in the Gazette, to remove any difficulty arising in relation to the establishment of the University. For this purpose, the provisions of the principal Act may, for a specified period, be applied with necessary adaptations, modifications, additions or omissions. However, such an order cannot be made after two years from the commencement of the Ordinance. Every order issued under this provision shall be laid before both Houses of the State Legislature as soon as practicable.
