Industry Specific ComplianceThe Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) on August 12, 2026, notified the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for the UT of Jammu & Kashmir and the UT of Ladakh (Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Multi-Year Tariff), Regulations, 2025.

The following has been stated: -

•The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for the UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh proposed the 2025 Regulations under the Electricity Act, 2003 to govern tariff determination for generation, transmission and distribution utilities. 

•The Regulations provide a framework for Multi-Year Tariff (MYT), Aggregate Revenue Requirement (ARR), annual performance review and true-up of utilities. 

•They aim to establish a transparent and predictable tariff-setting mechanism while promoting efficiency and financial sustainability in the power sector. 

•The draft was circulated for comments, suggestions and objections from consumers and other stakeholders before finalisation. 

These Regulations shall come into force from August 12, 2026, and shall remain in force until March 31, 2029, unless otherwise reviewed/extended.
