The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), on August 5, 2026, notified amendments to certain Indian Standards under Rule 15(1) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018. The notified amendments cover standards relating to plywood for concrete shuttering works, hearing protectors, and stainless steel sinks for domestic purposes.
The amendments notified are Amendment No. 1 to IS 4990:2024 – Plywood for Concrete Shuttering Works — Specification (Fourth Revision), Amendment No. 1 to IS 9167:2025 – Hearing Protectors — Specification (First Revision), and Amendment No. 4 to IS 13983:1994 – Stainless Steel Sinks for Domestic Purposes — Specification. All three amendments were established in August 2026, with the notification specifying August 3, 2026 as the date of establishment.
The standards without the respective amendments will remain in force until February 2, 2027, as specified in the Schedule. Accordingly, the notified amendments provide a transition period during which the existing versions of the standards continue to remain applicable.
