Himachal Pradesh Industries Department exempts certified Boilers from inspection in view of the emergency situation due to COVID-19 and lockdown

Commercial ComplianceThe Himachal Pradesh Industries Department on May 11, 2020, exempt all certified Boilers from the operation of the provisions of section 6 (c) which prohibits the use of unregistered of uncertificate boiler  and section 8 which specifies the procedure for renewal of certificate of the Boilers Act, 1923, whose inspection is due in the months of March, April and May, 2020 from inspection in view of the emergency situation due to COVID-19 and lockdown, for the period of lockdown and one month after lifting of the lockdown.

Whereas, the above mentioned exemption is subject to the following conditions:

(1) During the exemption period, the Boilers shall be used in accordance with the provisions of the Boilers Act, the Boiler Attendant’s Rules and the Boiler Operation Engineer’s Rules,2011.

(2) Any repair during the period of exemption shall not be carried out without obtaining prior permission from the Chief Inspector of Boilers.

(3) The exemption period granted to the Boilers will expire one month after the lockdown id lifted.

(4) All Boiler owners shall apply for renewal of their Boiler Certificate(s) during the exemption period which will be given after lifting of lockdown.

(5) The exemption will be applicable to only those Boilers which were in operation before imposition of lockdown and duly certified.
