The Labour Commissioner of Meghalaya on July 09, 2020 issues directions in the matter of payment of wages to workers during the national lockdown period.
The following directions are issued:-
• Private establishment, industries, employer who are willing to enter into negotiation and settlement with the workers regarding payment of wages for 50 days or any other period in a particular state during which establishment was closed, may initiate a process of negotiation and settlement.
• The private establishments, factories etc should permit the workers and employees to work in their establishments who are willing to work which may be without prejudice to the rights of the workers and employees regarding unpaid wages of above 50 days. The establishments shall publicize and communicate to workers for their response and participation.
